Saddle Bronc Rider Damian Brennan Picks Up Second Texas Swing Title in Three Tries with RodeoHouston Win

The Aussie went back to No. 1 in the World, a spot he has already occupied this season

Damian Brennan had three 90+ Point Rides all of 2023. On Sunday, he made two in one day at RodeoHouston to lock up a second Texas Swing win in 2024 to go along with Fort Worth.

Brennan made it to Championship Sunday by advancing in first place out of Super Series 3 and then finishing fourth in a competitive second Semifinal with 87.5 points to avoid the Wildcard.

He gave the fans inside NRG Stadium a show on the final day, leaving no doubt he’d leave the champion. First, he was 90 points on Calgary Stampede’s Wild Cherry to win the Championship Round and then he did himself one better by going for 91 on The Cervi Brothers’ R. Watson’s Ed Bishop. Those were the only two 90+ Point Rides in the saddle bronc riding for the entire rodeo.

He made a grand total of $56,750 to bring his season total over $106,000 and open up a lead of nearly $40,000 in the PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Standings.

“I was trying to get a good solid spur out and she took a little run there and it was just really good, I tried to stay back and keep lifting and she’s every bronc riders dream, she’s getting up in the air and giving you plenty of time to set your feet,” Brennan said of his winning 91-pointer.

In the Four-Man Shootout, every cowboy was marked 88 points or better with Lefty Holman taking second, Cole Elshere in third and defending champion Sage Newman in fourth.
