C5 Rodeo’s Virgil Continues to Shine and Set Records at the Red Bluff Rodeo But He Does Not Stop There

C5 Rodeo’s Virgil deserves his own record book as he goes on to break another one.

RC Landingham has been waiting a long time see his name next to C5 Rodeo’s legendary bucking horse, Virgil, and he finally got his shot at the Red Bluff Roundup. Eight seconds later, the veteran duo set an arena record in a big way at 92.5 points to win the rodeo.

The record that Landingham broke came in 2023 when Wyoming cowboy Donny Proffit had his shot on the big gray. Proffit and Virgil topped the Red Bluff leaderboard with a 90-point ride.

Going even further back to 2022, Bodee Lammers matched up with Virgil in Red Bluff to be 88 points and get the win in a muddy arena where it was all heart on Virgil’s part. Making it three straight years the bareback riding has been won on that C5 horse.

In his career, the 16-year-old bucking horse has 27 rides marked 90 points or higher, including the World Record at 95 points with Rocker Steiner. He has been selected to go to the National Finals Rodeo 10 times along with receiving two Horse of the Year titles.

You can’t forget the multiple 90+ point rides in the saddle bronc riding as well, including young gun and superstar Lefty Holman’s 90.5 that came from the muddy Fiesta Days Rodeo in 2021.

Virgil’s head has swung over chutes at the biggest, most legendary rodeos including the NFR, the Canadian Finals Rodeo, the American, the Calgary Stampede and more. He is a well traveled animal athlete that continues to impress every where he goes.
