Oceane Veilleux cinched a win at the historic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth that helped further her lead in the Resistol Rookie Race. As the newest Resistol Rookie Roundup Barrel Racing Champion, she is your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.
After a down barrel in the Long Round made her time an 18.59 yet with only two clean runs in the entire round, Veilleux’s time was good enough to slide into eighth. With the Top 8 advancing to the Shootout Round, Veilleux was right where she needed to be.
When Saturday rolled around, Veilleux’s adjustments paid off as her Shootout Round time came in at 13.55 to once again advance her by the slimmest of margins.
The Final 4 is where Veilleux shined. Her second run of the day, third of the Resistol Rookie Roundup and it was the fastest of the entire rodeo at 13.19 seconds. The clean slate format worked in her favor as she walked away the Champion.
Veilleux and her roan equine partner got faster with every round and cinched an impressive win to be your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week.
