Jacob Talley’s 3.7-Second Run Secures the Ultimate Title in San Antonio

San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Steer Wrestling Champion Jacob Talley continued to find success in the winter run

Jacob Talley clinched his first career victory at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo as he entered the Final Round with his sights set on the Championship.

Talley stopped the clock at 3.7 seconds, securing his place at the top of the leaderboard and a check for $15,000 to continue his success throughout the winter run.

When asked about his mindset entering the Final Round Talley said, “To just do my job, I knew I had a good steer, I’ve been really blessed with horses and a supportive family so it just made it easy.”

Talley’s journey to victory began in Bracket 5, where he tied for second place with Cash Robb, each earning $4,000. Although he faced a setback in Semifinals 1, failing to secure a spot in the Short Go, Talley made a comeback in the Wildcard Round. Tying with Grant Peterson with a time of 4.2 seconds, Talley claimed the No. 1 spot, propelling him into the Final Round. Steer wrestling marked one of three events to be won the Wildcard winner.

As he now sits No. 5 in the PRCA World Standings, Talley is on track to secure his sixth National Finals Rodeo qualification.

Emerging as the frontrunner in the Final Round, Talley accumulated a total of $23,500 in San Antonio.

Following closely behind Talley, Stephen Culling secured second place in the Short Round, clocking in at 3.8 seconds and earning $10,000. Tyler Pearson landed in third place with a time of 4.2 seconds and taking home a $5,000 check. Rounding out the top contenders, Kyle Irwin secured fourth place with a time of 4.4 seconds, earning $3,000.
