Dustin Egusquiza and Levi Lord are on a heater at Foster Communications Coliseum. A 3.8-second run on Saturday afternoon gave them the Round 1 lead by two tenths of a second before they tied the lead of Round 2.
“Yeah, I don’t go that fast in the practice pen, it’s more trying to keep my horse free. Which is hard because you come to a place like this and he knows the environment, he knows what I’m going to do because I do the same thing every time. It’s not like he’s going to be free but it’s just a confidence thing knowing my horse is going to help me and my partner is always there to catch two feet,” Egusquiza said.
Derrick Begay and Colter Todd are who Egusquiza and Lord tied the lead in Round 2 with a pair of 3.6-second runs.
The Top 12 on two head will come back for the Finals in San Angelo and with it being a rodeo that Egusquiza has yet to claim, he is looking forward to closing out the Texas Swing on a high note.
