Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp teamed up to put on a new youth Team Roping event named the World Youth Team Roping Championships.
Wesley Thorp says the Youth Roping Championship is something he has wanted to put on for a while now, but it never happened. That’s when he brought the idea up to his roping partner.
“Tyler and I were driving down the road one day and we were like, hey we need to bring this back. Why don’t we just do it?”
While it was Wade and Thorp heading up the event, Wade says the Team Roping community came together to put it on.
“I can’t stand to tell you how much it means to me how many pros stayed, stepped up, and roped with these kids all week long. They wore their horses out just to do so.”
Wade and Thorp are defending their 2023 World Title this year and currently sit No. 12 in the PRCA World Standings with just under $30,000 made.
