Clint Summers Jumps to No. 1 in Header Standings After Big Win in San Antonio

Summers Long Fort Worth

We are making our way through the Texas Swing and now that two of the three biggest rodeos in Texas have finished, the standings are beginning to shake out.

Clint Summers got a big boost by tying for the Short Round win in San Antonio and is your new No. 1 in the PRCA Team Roping Header World Standings with over $43,000 earned. Here is a look at the top 20 in the World on the head side of things.

No. 1 Clint Summers, $43,410

Clint Summers and his partner Jake Long had a great showing in San Antonio. The two made $5,000 before the Finals thanks to a fourth-place finish in the Semis and two checks in the Bracket Rounds. The pair tied Derrick Begay and Colter Todd in the Finals with a 3.8-second run. The Short Round win earned the pair $12,500 bringing their total at the rodeo to nearly $18,000. The duo also had a strong showing at another PRCA Playoff Series Rodeo, La Fiesta De Los Vaqueros (Arizona), where they made over $9,000 thanks to a third-place finish in the Average.

No. 5 Derrick Begay, $29,646

Derrick Begay was another big mover thanks to a win in San Antonio. Begay earned $4,750 in the Bracket Round and added another $5,000 in the Wild Card Round before and his partner Colter Todd stopped the clock at 3.8 seconds in the Finals to tie Summers and Long and cash an additional check of $12,500. Begay/Todd were named the winners of the rodeo based on total earnings. The pair earned over $20,000 at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and Begay went from outside the Top 20 to the No. 5 spot.

No. 7 Cody Snow, $25,759

Cody Snow made the Finals in San Antonio, but placed fourth to win $3,000. As disappointing as that result may have been, he and his partner Hunter Koch made up for lost time at La Fiesta De Los Vaqueros where the pair won over $10,000 apiece. Not only did the duo post the fastest time in the Finals at 4.5 seconds, they also won the Average after going 10.3 seconds on two. A new team for 2024, it was their first win as partners since 2019.
