It is time for one of the most exciting rodeos of the regular season as all eyes focus on the Pendleton Roun-Up. The first Pendleton Round-Up was held on September 29, 1910, and it has since grown into a week-long celebration of Western heritage that includes parades, concerts, and pageants.
This year athletes will compete for their share of over $600,000. Here is a preview of what you can expect from Pendleton.
Format
In roughstock events and barrel racing, each athlete will ride one time with the 12 highest scores and fastest times head to the Finals. In the Finals, the highest aggregate of two is crowned Champion.
In timed events other than barrel racing, athletes compete twice in the opening round with the 12 fastest on two going to the Finals where they will have one more run. The fastest on three head is crowned Champion of the Pendleton Round-Up.
What to Watch For
Performance 1 (September 13)
Performance 1 in Pendleton features an exciting field in bareback riding with Cinch Playoff winner Clayton Biglow looking to keep his hot streak rolling. Biglow will compete against Richmond Champion, Taylor Broussard, Chad Rutherford, Kade Sonnier and others on Wednesday afternoon.
In saddle bronc riding, you have a field that consists of 2022 World Champion Zeke Thurston, Stetson Wright, Cinch Playoff winner Ryder Sanford, 2022 NFR qualifiers Dawson Hay and Lefty Holman and more.
Performance 2 (September 14)
Performance 2 is sure to be a good one in bull riding. Cinch Playoff winner Trey Kimzey looks to stay hot as he competes against Jestyn Woodward, Cullen Telfer, Clayton Sellars, Creek Young, Garrett Smith and more.
Performance 3 (September 15)
Friday afternoon features a loaded field in bareback riding with 2022 Pendleton Round-Up winner Kaycee Feild going up against Rocker Steiner, Leighton Berry, Keenan Hayes, Cole Franks, Cole Reiner, and many more.
In bull riding, you can watch Stetson Wright compete against traveling partner Ky Hamilton, Lukasey Morris, Brady Portenier, and more.
