Rodeo Austin is not quite a hometown event for Tacy Webb, but it is less than a three-hour drive from Midway where she is from.
She got the win there with some support from her work family. Webb is an ICU nurse and one of her good friends from the hospital was in attendance with her family when Webb stopped the clock at 2.2 seconds in the Finals to seal the Average win with an aggregate time of 7.6 seconds on three.
“It was so special to me because I’ve had so much love and support from all of my friends at work,” Webb said. “They announced that I’m an ICU nurse so it like really pumps them up, it was a really cool experience.”
Webb’s Rodeo Austin got off to a bit of a touch and go start with a 3.7-second run in Round 1, but she didn’t let that affect her in the next two rounds.
“I definitely wanted to be a little faster on my second run, but looking at the Average, there was really only one or two clean times in the Average before my set, so I just wanted to get another calf roped,” she said.
Webb returned in Round 2 with a 2.3 to leave no doubt she would advance to Finals, where she would eventually win the rodeo.
