Shelley Morgan and her high school sweetheart have stood the test of time in the rodeo arena. While building the life they wanted, they also happened to get a couple horses of a lifetime.
Morgan’s horse in high school carried her through to college and some pro rodeos before she graduated college and started teaching. Her teaching career lasted until her second son came along and her beloved horse Short Go came into her life next.
“2008, when I got Short Go, is when I went back to rodeo full time. You know, Short Go was definitely a career highlight... He was first, big, huge, heart horse, I guess you would say,” she said.
Morgan’s next heart horse is the mare we see her on today, Kiss. The two have a list of accolades so long including an American Rodeo title, three National Finals qualifications, the 2022 NFR Average title and more.
"[Kiss is] more than Rex and I could have ever imagined. She’s taken us on a ride and we’re greatly appreciative to her,” Morgan said.
While Kiss still has plenty left to give and her career is not over yet, Morgan has gained another team member this 2024 season with Bee hopping in the trailer too. After a trying 2023, Morgan is back on her mental game and hitting the road with Kiss and Bee, a pair that she says will complement each other in big ways. Morgan has her sights set on Las Vegas this December.
