World No. 1 Shad Mayfield Dominates Bracket 5 in San Antonio

Mayfield, the 2020 champion in San Antonio, proved he is a threat to win it again in 2024

Shad Mayfield turned in times of 7.1, 7.8 and 8.0 seconds in Bracket 5 to earn $6,750 and a Semifinal berth.

Mayfield’s Round 1 win was the fastest time of the rodeo so far and the fastest of Mayfield’s season. The 7.8 shared him second with John Douch in Round 2 before he finished the bracket off with another Go-Round win.

“I’ve been through every situation, so you just gotta keep moving, that’s what I’ve always been taught from my dad in the practice pen,” he said.

Mayfield has now eclipsed $73,000 in season earnings and leads the PRCA World Standings by nearly $50,000.

John Douch, who is No. 3 in the World, was second in the bracket while Blane Cox and defending San Antonio Champion Riley Pruitt also advanced.
