Trey Holston is heading back to the NFR for the second straight year after earning over $178,000 on the season and finishing the regular season in the No. 5 spot.

Holston had a breakout season in 2022 by earning more than $171,000 and finishing No. 9 in the world, that was after finishing unranked with just $4,471 in 2021.

In addition to already setting a career high in earnings in a single season, Holston also rode 48 percent of his bulls for an Average Score of 82.65 points, both career-best marks as well.

BIGGEST PAYDAYS

NFR Open (Colorado), $30,735

Holston dominated the NFR Open from start to finish. He took second in Round 1 and after that, didn’t place anything other than first. He was 88 points on JC Kitaif Pro Rodeo’s T Bone in Round 2 and then 87 points in the Semifinals before finishing the job with 89 points on JC Kitaif’s Rico Suave. He was 4-for-4 and all four rides were 87 points or more.

Ellensburg Xtreme Bulls (Washington), $16,949

Holston finished third in the average at the Ellensburg Xtreme Bulls after two solid rides. He opened the rodeo with an 85.5-point ride to place fifth in the opening round. In the Finals, Holston placed second with a 90-point ride which helped him finish in the Top 3 in the Average. It was one of two 90-point rides he had this year.

HIGHEST MARKED RIDES

Range Days Rodeo (South Dakota), 90 Points

Holston’s other 90-point ride came at the Range Days Rodeo. At Ellensburg, he placed second in the round with his ride, but at the Range Days Rodeo, his 90 points on Trump Train would be good enough for the win on Aug. 23.

Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Xtreme Bulls (Utah), 88.5 Points

Holston banked more than $7,500 for a third place finish for his ride on Cross Bru of Powder River Rodeo. On nine outs this season, JB Mauney was the only other cowboy to ride that bull.

NOTABLE WINS

Prairie Circuit Finals (Oklahoma), 163.5 Points on Two

Holston started his season strong with a win at the Prairie Circuit Finals all the way back in October of 2022. He was 163.5 on two head to get the win and earned over $6,500 at the rodeo. Holston was 82 points and 81.5 points on his two rides.

Cowboy Capital of the World PRCA Rodeo (Texas), 88 Points
