Summer Kosel has captured her first National Finals Rodeo qualification and did so by finishing the regular season at No. 9, coming in with $116,982 earned throughout the regular season.

Cheyenne Frontier Days, $15,442
The Cheyenne Frontier Days was a lucrative stop on Kosel’s summer run for a second straight year. She claimed the No. 1 spot in Performance 1 with a run of 17.71 seconds and kept the momentum going into the Semifinals where she finished out in second place following closely behind Leslie Smalygo. Kosel broke her own arena record with a 16.97-second run in the Finals only to see it re-broken by Sue Smith just a few minutes later. The No. 2 spot came with a a check for $8,686.
Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup (South Dakota), $14,500
Kosel took advantage of the money up for grabs at the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup as she remained inside the Top 5 for each round. An aggregate time of 27.99 seconds on two head advanced Kosel into the Semifinals where she came in at No. 2 with a run of 13.89 seconds to move on to the Short Go. won $12,000 in the Final Round alone as she finished out in third place, bringing her total earnings to $14,500 in Sioux Falls.
FASTEST RUNS
Dodge City Roundup (Kansas), 16.85 Second
A run of 16.85 seconds in Round 2 of the Dodge City Roundup locked Kosel into the top spot as fellow NFR cowgirls Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi and Jessica Routier rounded out the Top 3. Kosel claimed a check for $2,795 for the Go-Round win and a total of $8,186 in Dodge City after capturing the No. 3 spot in the Average.
Buffalo Bill Rodeo (Nebraska), 17.47 seconds
Kosel took home the title at the Buffalo Bill Rodeo as she stopped the clock at 17.47 seconds. The leaderboard was loaded with household names in the barrel racing including Emily Beisel, Wenda Johnson and Dee Ratliff as they all tied for the No. 2 spot after each turning in a time of 17.56 seconds. Kosel came added $2,640 to her season earnings in North Platte.
NOTABLE WINS
Guymon Pioneer Days (Oklahoma), 34.13 Seconds on Two
Kosel remained consistent at the Guymon Pioneer Days as she kicked off Round 1 with a quick 17.01-second run to claim the top spot and a check for $2,305. Moving into Round 2, Kosel laid down a time of 17.12 seconds to notch the No. 3 spot to secure her position in the Average. She won the rodeo added $6,256 to her earnings.
Sikeston Bootheel Jaycee Rodeo (Missouri), 34.13 Seconds on Two
Kosel won the rodeo by two tenths with a time of 16 seconds flat. The win came as part of a two-week stretch in August in which she won more than $20,000.
