Riley Webb Enters 2023 NFR At No. 1 to Follow Up A Remarkable Rookie Season

Just one year ago, Riley Webb took the tie-down roping world by storm as he cinched the 2022 Resistol Rookie of the Year Title along with his first National Finals Rodeo qualification. He went on to finish No. 10 in the world and has kept his momentum going into 2023.

After winning RodeoHouston in March, the 20-year-old cowboy remained No. 1 in the PRCA World Standings for the rest of the 2023 season, 30 straight weeks, and punched his ticket to Las Vegas once again.

Webb’s list of accolades for the season is lengthy after capturing a championship at thirteen PRCA Rodeos and setting a new PRCA regular season earnings record by more than $75,000. With $280,405 in total earnings, Webb is heading into his second NFR with a lead of about $74,000.

BIGGEST PAYDAYS

RodeoHouston, $55,625

Webb set himself up for a successful season early on as he won the coveted Rodeo Houston title, pulling in a a total of $55,625. Webb advanced out of Bracket 5 with $4,750 in Go-Round money and continued to make the right moves as he finished out at No. 1 in the Semifinals and ultimately turned in an 8.9-second run in the Short Go to win it all.

Puyallup Cinch Playoffs, $18,863

Webb swept the competition at the Washington State Fair as he advanced into the Semifinals in the No. 1 spot with 16.2 seconds on two head and $5,863 in Go-Round earnings. A 7.4-second run in the Semifinals secured Webb a shot in the Short Go where he stopped the clock in 7.6 seconds to claim the win and a check for a total of $18,863.

FASTEST RUNS

Horse Heaven Roundup (Washington), 6.6 Seconds

Webb turned in one of his fastest runs of the season in Kennewick, washing as he locked in a 6.6-second run in the Final Round to take the lead by 1.5 seconds and secure the aggregate win with 24.7 seconds on three head. A total of $8,259 was earned by Webb at the Horse Heaven Roundup to further extend his lead at No. 1.

Utah Days of ’47, 6.5 Seconds

Webb cinched the Round 2 win at the Utah Days of ’47 with the fastest run of the rodeo with a time of 6.5 seconds to cinch the Go-Round check and the No. 3 spot in the Average to add $5,470 to his earnings.

NOTEABLE WINS

High Desert Stampede (Oregon), 7.2 Seconds

The High Desert Stampede was a big success for Webb as he locked in a quick 7.2-second run to claim the top spot just ahead of Taylor Santos, Tanner Green and Bo Pickett. Webb took home a check for just over $5,000 just two weeks after his win in Houston. This was one of Webb’s seven PRCA Playoff Series wins.

National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, 7.2 Seconds in Finals

The National Western Stock Show and Rodeo was a close competition all around for Webb as he split the Round 1 and 2 win with 2020 World Champion Shad Mayfield in Bracket 8 to advance into Semifinals. From there, he made a run of 8 seconds flat to secure his position in the Short Go. Webb claimed the title in Denver, his second in the calendar year 2023, with a 7.2-second run to pull a check for just under $7,000.
