For Wyoming cowboy Wyatt Phelps, his first trip to the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo will be one that he will always remember.
The Resistol Rookie was out in Bracket 4 where he put together the highest marked ride of the entire rodeo in Round 2. This earned him the Go-Round win along with the first Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week title in 2024.
Matched up with Cervi Championship Pro Rodeo’s Milburn Special, the two went toe-to-toe in the best way. With a stock score of 22/22 and a contestant score of 23/23, the outcome was a Go-Round winning ride for the young bull rider to get his winter run rolling.
As for Milburn Special, the Cervi bull has helped cowboys like Chance Schott find the top of the learderboard in Denver before with electric scores. It’s safe to say he likes the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo.
Phelps added over $4,000 to his earnings with this 90-point ride and when combined with his other 2024 earnings, he is sitting just outside the Top 20 in the PRCA World Standings and the season is just getting started.
