Tanner Aus has locked in his eighth National Finals Rodeo qualification. The No. 12 bareback rider in the world hails from Granite Falls, Minnesota and earned $119,897 in the 2023 regular season.
He steadily stayed inside the Top 15 in the World once the Summer Run started, he picked up checks at timely moments.
BIGGEST PAYDAYS
Calgary Stampede, $17,600
Aus’ biggest payday came from the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. Winning Round 1 and placing second in Rounds 2 and 3 in Pool A, earned Aus a place in the Semifinals. He rode for 87 points to move on to the Finals, where he was 81. Overall, he earned $12,600 toward the PRCA World Standings from his pool and $5,000 from Championship Sunday.
World’s Oldest Rodeo (Arizona) and Western Stampede (Utah), $10,823
In Prescott, Aus finished in second to cash in on over $5,000. It came after an 87.5-point ride on Kirsten Vold Rodeo Company’s Preifert’s Copycat Valley that missed the top finish by just one point. He then won the Western Stampede in Utah, which also came with a payday of more than $5,000. Aus won at check at 6-of-8 rodeos he entered over the Fourth of July.
HIGHEST MARKED RIDES
Darby Extreme Barebacks, 89 points
Aus made an 89-point ride in the Finals of the coveted Darby event, which shockingly didn’t get him a check as six cowboys rode for 90+ in front of him.
Rodeo Rapid City (South Dakota), 88 Points
Before the Texas Swing, Aus picked up momentum with a win at an early season PRCA Playoff Series Rodeo in South Dakota. A matchup with Muddy Creek Pro Rodeo’s Hot Mocha resulted in a leaderboard-topping, $5,000 88-point ride.
Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo (Missouri), 88 Points
August would bring another 88-point ride, this one came in Missouri aboard The Cervi Brothers’ On Second Thought. It cinched Aus the $4,700 win by just half a point over Orin Larsen.
NOTABLE WINS
The Daily Record Xtreme Bares and Broncs (Washington), 87.5 points
Ellensburg, Washington is home to more than just its famous Labor Day Weekend rodeo and Aus took home the win from its Xtreme event after going for 87.5 points on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Game Trail in May. He won the Ozark Empire PRCA Rodeo (Missouri) and finished second at the Redding Rodeo (California) the same weekend.
Young Living’s Last Chance Rodeo (Utah), 86 Points
On his final out of the season, Aus made $4,400 to avoid getting bumped out of the NFR by those competing in the Governor’s Cup.
