Jessica Routier is becoming a name no barrel racing fan will forget as she enters into her sixth National Finals Rodeo this December with $118,973 in regular season earnings which ranks No. 8 in the WPRA World Standings.
Routier joined the WPRA in 2010 and is looking for another Top 10 finish, and with $986,418 in total career earnings, Routier is just $13,582 away from crossing over the $1 million and is sure to do so inside the Thomas and Mack.
BIGGEST PAYDAYS
NFR Open (Colorado), $24,553
Routier was third in Round 1 and fourth in Round 2, and then swept the competition in Colorado Springs this July. She advanced into the Semifinals, No. 1 in the Average with 35.70 seconds on two head to collect $5,666. Routier then stopped the clock in 17.69 seconds in the Semifinals and the Finals, winning them both, to to add an additional $13,736 to her season earnings and be named the National Champion.
RodeoHouston, $16,750
Routier advanced out of Super Series 1 at RodeoHouston with $3,750 earned which moved her on to the Wild Card Round. There, she cinched the No. 1 spot with a run of 14.76 second to pick up an additional $3,000. A 14.63-second run in the Championship Round secured Routier a position in the Championship Shootout where the South Dakota cowgirl finished in the No. 3 spot, which paid her an additional $10,000.
FASTEST RUNS
Yellowstone River Round-Up (Montana), 14.95 Seconds
Routier won the Yellowstone River Round-up with a quick run of 14.95 second to pick up a check for just over $2,700 in Billings. Lisa Lockhart and Brittany Sporer rounded out the Top 3.
Fallon County Fair and Rodeo (Montana), 16.08 Seconds
A run of 16.08 seconds secured Routier a check for $4,710 as she took home the title in Baker the same weekend as Billings. Fellow National Finals Rodeo qualifiers Ilyssa Riley and Lisa Lockhart also won checks at the rodeo.
NOTABLE WINS
Iowa’s Championship Rodeo, 17.23 Seconds
The Midwest cowgirl felt right at home in Iowa, winning more than $3,200 for a fist place finish. In Dodge City that same weekend, she finished second in the Average.
Buffalo Stampede (South Dakota), 17.43 Seconds
A 17.43-second run in Kadoka, SD locked Routier into the No. 1 spot in her home state just before the start of the Summer Run.
