Bareback Rider Garrett Shadbolt Rides for 88 Points in Bracket 5, Round 2 in Denver, Advances to Semifinals

The Nebraska bareback rider matched the highest score of the 2024 National Western

Defending Denver champion Garrett Shadbolt got a Round 1 win in Bracket 5 with 81 points on Cervi Championship’s Honcho and it turned out, he was just getting started.

The next night in Round 2, he was 88 points on Ain’t No Angel, which not only won him the Go-Round, but also matched him the highest marked ride of the rodeo and put him in position for a big Round 2 payday once all eight brackets are complete.

“I knew he was going to be really good and honestly, he’s a little bit more of a handful than I expected,” Shadbolt said. “We got her done and I was happy to get the win tonight.”

Shadbolt’s 169 points on two put him more than 10 points ahead of the two others advancing to the Semifinals from his bracket. Ethan Mazurenko had 157 points and Jade Taton had156.5.
