Dantan Bertsch’s Round 3 Win in San Antonio Makes Him the No. 2 Bareback Rider in Bracket 5

Dantan Bertsch matched up with J Bar J’s Gronk to win the final go-round of Bracket 5 at Frost Bank Center.

Dantan Bertsch bests his Round 2 finish with a Round 3 win in San Antonio after matching up with J Bar J’s Gronk to be 84.5 points. When combined with his Round 2 earnings, this makes Bertsch the No. 2 cowboy in the bracket moving on to the Semifinals.

“To get a good one under my belt, I’ve kind of had some wilder horses turning back and stuff, but finally one to jump kick in a line and especially as showy as ol’ Gronk, there’s nothing more you could ask for,” Bertsch said.

The Alberta cowboy tied for second in Round 2 with an 84-point ride and he has a total of $4,250 to his name so far in San Antonio.

The one bareback rider to finish ahead of Bertsch in Bracket 5 is none other than 2021 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo champion, Clayton Biglow. Biglow won Rounds 1 and 2 before he tied for a third place finish in the third round racking up $6,000 in total.

Richmond Champion trails Bertsch with $3,000 after a pair of 83-point rides put him third in both Round 2 and 3.

As for Mason Clements, he comes in at No. 4 thanks to his 86-point ride on Calgary Stampede’s Eleventh Con was enough in Round 1 to tie for the win.

The San Antonio Semifinals kick off on Feb. 22 with the second Semifinals on Feb. 23.
