J.D. Struxness’ regular season brought about the kind of success we have become accustomed to seeing from the now five-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier.

He will enter the NFR as the No. 6 ranked steer wrestler in the world as he looks for his fifth career Top 10 finish and third career Top 5 finish.

BIGGEST PAYDAYS

Reno Rodeo, $17,361

Consistency was the name of the game at the start of the summer run. Three runs clocking in at 4.1, 4.2 and 4.5 landed Struxness in the lead of the Average. He claimed the Reno Rodeo title by a full second.

Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup (South Dakota), $12,750

The Minnesota cowboy earned money in the First Go-Round with a 4.2-second run. He would do on to be 4.1 in the Semifinals and 3.9 in the Finals to split the third hole and end his regular season with a hefty payday.

RodeoHouston, $8,250

Super Series 5 in Houston got started with a 4.6 and a Go-Round win before he moved on as the No. 2 cowboy in the Semifinals. In the Semifinals, he made his second fastest run of the rodeo at 4.8 seconds. Struxness ended up one hole out of the money in the Finals.

FASTEST RUNS

Lewiston Roundup (Idaho), 3.2 seconds

Struxness’ fastest run of the season came in early September in Lewiston, Idaho. A 3.2-second run would get him the win by over half a second and it would add over $2,500 to his season earnings.

New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo, 3.5 seconds

His second fastest run came the following weekend in Albuquerque. Struxness, along with Nick Guy and Tyler Pearson, made a 3.5-second run that would be worth almost $3,000 with the closest, next best run coming in at 3.8 seconds.

NOTABLE WINS

Ellensburg Rodeo, 13.3 Seconds on Three

Struxness would be the highest earning steer wrestler over the iconic Labor Day Weekend in Washington. A time of 13.3 on three head would make him your Champion while adding over $9,000 to his earnings.
