Levi Lord’s 2023 season has the potential to be the best of his career, as he finished the regular season No. 4, sitting just $34,000 behind No. 1 Wesley Thorp as he enters his third NFR.
Last year, he made more than $200,000 for the first time in his career and finished No. 5 in the world.
BIGGEST PAYDAYS
San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, $22,500
It was a great Texas Swing for Lord who made over $22,000 at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. He won the rodeo along with partner Dustin Egusquiza with a 4.1-second run in the Finals, which was actually the slowest of their three qualified times. They were 3.7 seconds in Bracket 4, Round 2 and 3.5 in the Wild Card.
San Angelo Cinch Chute Out (Texas), $7,500
Lord/Egusquiza placed second in the Long Round of the Cinch Chute Out in San Angelo thanks to a 3.7 second run. In the Finals, the pair were the only to catch with a 4.0-second time to win the rodeo and $7,500.
FASTEST RUNS
Snake River Stampede (Idaho), 3.4 Seconds
It was one of the fastest times we saw all season in the team roping and Egusquiza/Lord did it twice in 2023. The first came in Round 2 of the Snake River Stampede in mid-July and paid almost $4,000.
Cache County Fair and Rodeo (Utah), 3.4 Seconds
The second time they stopped the clock at 3.4 seconds was at the one-head PRCA Playoff Series Rodeo in Logan, Utah. Egusquiza/Lord were seven tenths faster than the next closest team to win over $4,700 on Aug. 12. Lord had six total times of 3.7 Seconds or Faster this year which ranked No. 1 among PRCA heelers.
NOTABLE WINS
Rio Grande Valley Stock Show and Rodeo (Texas), 4.1 Seconds
Lord stopped the clock at 4.1 seconds at the Rio Grande Livestock Show and Rodeo which earned him the win and a check for more than $4,000. The run was three tenths better than the rest of the field at the one-header to get the win.
Livingston Roundup Rodeo (Montana), 3.9 Seconds
The win in Montana was the higheest paying of three over Cowboy Christmas as Egusquiza/Lord also won Mandan Rodeo Days (North Dakota) and the Basin City Freedom Rodeo (Washington) The three wins combined to pay $14,047.
